Education
for All

A Conversation on the Value of College Amid Digital Learning

Surveys show widespread general support for online learning, yet specific questions about how universities transitioned learning in the spring and how they plan to execute in the fall in response to COVID, are met with dissatisfaction, demands for tuition cuts and uncertainty about enrollment. The discrepancy indicates that learning can, and should, come in different forms with different price tags to fit every students’ needs. This event will dive deeper into that idea by facilitating an open conversation about the value of education and how we can create a system that allows all people the opportunity to an education that fits their unique needs.

Virtual
Office Hours

The previous education system promoted a false narrative that learning is done in specific ways at specific times. CKF believes that learning never stops, and individuals should be in a constant pursuit of discovering and developing our unique skills. The world has started to make this shift, which has only been accelerated by the current crisis. This series of virtual office hours, each themed around a particular idea, will serve as a call to action for groups that are embracing and advancing the concept of three-dimensional education to bring their ideas to our team.

TUESDAY,
SEPTEMBER 29

Session One

12:00–3:00PM PST
3:00–6:00PM EST

Discover
An effective education system is built on a foundation where individuals explore and discover their unique talents. And this should be constant and lifelong – the process doesn’t stop after high school or college. But how do learners, and especially non-traditional learners, continue to discover those aptitudes? Currently, there is a lack of tools and resources available for exploring new skills in time and cost-effective ways. CKF would like to invite any organization working to address that gap to join us at this time to discuss how our visions may overlap.

THURSDAY,
OCTOBER 1

Session Two

1:30–3:00PM PST
4:30–6:00PM EST

Open Call
Maybe you listened to our Founder’s keynote remarks and that sparked a new idea. Or maybe you visited our sponsor page and still have more questions. We invite anyone to join the Charles Koch Foundation at this time to share your ideas and vision for a new era where all people have equal access to the future.

THURSDAY,
OCTOBER 8

Session Three

2:15PM–3:00PM PST
5:15–6:00PM EST

Believe in Learners
Close out the 2020 ASU+GSV Summit by joining a discussion about how to reimagine education in a way that empowers learners of all ages. Hear more about what we’re doing, and share your ideas on a better way forward!

Believe in
People

A surprising take on how you can help tackle the really big problems in society–from one of America’s most successful entrepreneurs.

People are looking for a better way. Towering barriers are holding millions of people back, and the institutions that should help everyone rise are not doing the job. Crumbling communities. One-size fits all education. Businesses that rig the economy. Public policy that stifles opportunity and emboldens the extremes. As a result, this country is quickly heading toward a two-tiered society.

Today’s challenges call for nothing short of a paradigm shift – away from a top-down approach that sees people as problems to be managed, toward bottom-up solutions that empower everyone to realize their potential and foster a more inclusive society.

Such a shift starts by asking: What would it mean to truly believe in people?
